Collierville
Much of Collierville’s charm comes from its historic flair. Several sites in town provide residents with a link to their community’s past; these include the train depot, the Savannah railway car, Confederate Park, and Magnolia Cemetery.

Collierville’s train depot is also the headquarters of Main Street Collierville in the historic district. The building was originally relocated from LaGrange, Tenn. in the 1940s. On display nearby is the Savannah, a railcar built in 1915 to provide luxurious quarters for traveling railroad executives. With two suites, a dining room, kitchen, observation area and crew’s quarters, the car was remarkably well equipped for its time. Today, the Savannah remains largely as it was 90 years ago.

The local antique industry reinforces Collierville’s respect for history. Both visitors and residents enjoy the eclectic selection of fine antiques available in shops throughout the town. The variety and quality of items available are impressive enough to have earned Collierville the nickname, Antique Capitol of West Tennessee.

In support of the growing population, modern shopping and dining venues are being established as a complement to Collierville’s local businesses. An example is the development of an open-air complex "Carriage Crossing" featuring high-end stores and national chains by Cousins Properties, Inc. The center is designed for a total of 100 shops and restaurants, larger than any other local shopping facility.

Collierville also has its own performing arts facility, the Harrell Performing Arts Theatre. The theatre hosts plays and concerts throughout the year, as well as a variety of dance and music classes.

Community facilities include neighborhood parks, sports fields and courts, Greenbelt trails and a large recreation center. The H.W. Cox Community Center is a hub of physical and instructional activity. The fitness-minded enjoy the facility’s gym and racquetball courts, while the meeting rooms and kitchen are used year-round for a variety of classes, functions and events.

The climate of Collierville is cool, yet mild. Year-round temperatures range from the mid-30s in January to the high-80s in July. Sunshine is a large part of the Collierville lifestyle; the sun shines over 60% of the time, allowing locals to enjoy golf, tennis, jogging and other outdoor activities. Annual rainfall is usually about 50 inches, with the wettest months being March and November. Light snowfall sometimes results from the cooler January temperatures.
